Online Notepad

Type with basic formatting and download a real Word (.docx) or PDF file — no login, nothing saved anywhere.

Nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere — refreshing this page clears it, so download before you navigate away.

About this tool

A quick way to type something with basic formatting and get a real file out of it — without opening a heavyweight word processor, creating an account, or waiting for cloud storage to sync. Bold, italic, underline, two heading levels, and bulleted lists cover the formatting most quick documents actually need: a note, a short letter, a simple list, a one-page memo.

Download as Word (.docx) builds an actual, valid Word document — openable directly in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice — by generating the underlying file format directly in your browser (no server involved). Download as PDF renders the same content directly to a PDF, wrapping long lines to fit the page and carrying over your headings and bold/italic formatting.

This is intentionally not a full word processor: there's no cloud save, no collaboration, no version history, no page-layout controls beyond basic headings and lists. It solves one specific, common problem — "I need to type this up quickly and get a file" — and nothing typed here persists anywhere once you leave or refresh the page, which is also why there's no autosave to rely on.

Frequently asked questions

Is anything I type saved or sent anywhere?

No — there’s no server involved and no autosave. Refreshing or leaving this page clears everything, so download your file before navigating away.

Will complex formatting (tables, images, columns) work?

No — this supports bold, italic, underline, two heading levels, and bulleted lists only. For anything beyond that, a full word processor is the right tool.

Can I re-open a downloaded .docx and keep editing it here?

Not in this version — this tool creates new files, it doesn’t import an existing document back in. Once downloaded, continue editing it in Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice.

Why offer both Word and PDF?

Word (.docx) is better when the recipient needs to edit the document further; PDF is better when you want the layout to look identical everywhere and not be easily editable.
