Every other tool on this site runs entirely as JavaScript in your browser and never contacts a server at all. This one is a deliberate exception, by necessity: the domain you enter is sent to this site’s server to query the appropriate WHOIS registry — unavoidable, since this can only be done server-side — nothing about the lookup is logged. Nothing about the request is logged, stored, written to a cookie, or shared with any third party — it's handled and discarded the moment the response is sent back to you.

WHOIS is a decades-old protocol for looking up domain registration records — who registered a domain, through which registrar, when it was created, and when it's due to expire. This tool queries the appropriate WHOIS server directly for the domain's TLD (different top-level domains use different registries) and shows the raw response.
Registrant contact details are commonly redacted by privacy-protection services in most WHOIS responses today (a widespread practice that predates and goes beyond GDPR specifically), so don't expect to see a personal name, email, or address in most results — that's normal, not a sign the lookup failed. Registrar, creation date, and expiry date are still typically visible even when contact details are redacted.
This is useful for checking when a domain you're interested in expires, confirming which registrar a domain is actually with, or doing basic due diligence before a domain purchase.
