Website SEO Audit Tool

Check any page against 8 core on-page SEO signals — title, meta description, headings, images, and more.

🔒 This tool contacts our own server — see exactly what that means.

Every other tool on this site runs entirely as JavaScript in your browser and never contacts a server at all. This one is a deliberate exception, by necessity: the URL you enter is sent to this site’s server, which fetches that page on your behalf to read its HTML — that’s unavoidable for this specific tool, since a browser can’t reliably read another site’s full HTML directly. The fetch is made directly to the URL you provide, with no third-party service involved, and the page content itself is discarded immediately after the audit signals are extracted, never stored. Nothing about the request is logged, stored, written to a cookie, or shared with any third party — it's handled and discarded the moment the response is sent back to you.

This describes only what this specific tool does with what you type into it. It doesn't cover the rest of this site — see the Privacy Policy for how analytics and advertising cookies are handled elsewhere.

About this tool

This checks a page against the on-page signals that actually matter most for search visibility and are entirely within your control — unlike backlinks or domain authority, which take real time and external effort to build. It doesn't replace a full technical SEO crawl of an entire site, but it catches the specific, fixable issues that show up on individual pages most often.

The eight checks: whether a title tag exists and falls in the 30–60 character range that avoids truncation in search results; whether a meta description exists and falls in the 70–160 character range; whether the page has exactly one H1 heading (zero means no clear topic signal, more than one can dilute it); whether a canonical tag is present to prevent duplicate-content confusion; whether a mobile viewport tag is set, without which mobile browsers may render a zoomed-out desktop layout; whether the page's robots meta tag allows indexing (a stray "noindex" left over from a staging environment is a surprisingly common, completely silent way to vanish from search results); whether every image has alt text; and a basic word-count check, since very thin pages often struggle to rank regardless of how well-optimized their tags are.

This fetches the page server-side (see the privacy note below) rather than in your browser, because a browser's own fetch cannot reliably read the full HTML of an arbitrary cross-origin page. Only the page's own HTML is read — nothing is submitted anywhere, stored, or shared.

A perfect score here doesn't guarantee rankings — SEO also depends on backlinks, content quality, and competition — but a page failing several of these checks has clear, specific, and free-to-fix problems standing in its way.

Frequently asked questions

Does a perfect score guarantee good rankings?

No — this checks on-page fundamentals only. Rankings also depend on backlinks, content quality and depth, competition, and factors outside any single page. A perfect score removes on-page obstacles; it doesn’t guarantee a top position.

Why does it check meta robots for "noindex"?

A page accidentally left with a "noindex" directive — often forgotten after moving from a staging environment — will not appear in search results at all, regardless of how good everything else is. It’s one of the most common, completely silent SEO mistakes.

Is there a real minimum word count to rank?

No official minimum exists. This flags pages under 300 words as worth a second look, since very thin content often struggles to rank — but a short page that thoroughly answers a specific, narrow question can still perform well.

Can I audit a page that requires login to view?

No — this fetches the page the same way a logged-out visitor or search engine crawler would, so anything behind a login wall can’t be checked.
