NPS calculator
Estimate your National Pension Scheme retirement corpus.
Last reviewed: August 2026 · Figures are estimates for general planning only — see the explanation below for this calculator's specific assumptions.
if you contribute ₹5,000 a month to NPS for 30 years at an expected 10% return, your corpus grows to about ₹1,13,96,627 — 40% going into an annuity (₹45,58,651) and the rest (₹68,37,976) available as a lump sum. Compare this against PPF, which has no annuity requirement
What is an NPS calculator?
An NPS (National Pension Scheme) calculator projects your retirement corpus from regular contributions, then shows how it splits between a tax-free lumpsum withdrawal and the portion that must be used to purchase an annuity, per NPS withdrawal rules (minimum 40% annuitization).
What does "corpus" mean?
Corpus just means the total pot of money you’ve built up — your contributions plus all the growth on them. It’s a term used often in Indian retirement planning, but it simply means "your savings" at that point in time.
How much monthly pension will I actually get?
This calculator shows how your corpus splits between the lumpsum you can withdraw and the amount that must go toward buying an annuity — it does not show the resulting monthly pension amount, because that depends on the specific annuity plan and insurer you choose at retirement, which varies and isn’t something a generic calculator can know in advance. Once you know your annuity corpus from this calculator, check current annuity rates from NPS-empanelled insurers (available on the NPS Trust website) to estimate the monthly pension it would buy.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum annuity purchase required in NPS?
NPS rules require at least 40% of the accumulated corpus to be used to purchase an annuity at retirement; the remaining portion, up to 60%, can be withdrawn as a tax-free lumpsum.
