Strong Password Generator (24 characters)

Generate a 24-character random password for accounts that need extra security margin.

—

About this tool

This generates a random password using your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator (the same quality of randomness used for security-sensitive values, not a weaker predictable one), with adjustable length and character sets.

Longer passwords are dramatically more secure than adding complexity to a short one — a 16-character password from a modest character set is generally far stronger than an 8-character password using every symbol available, because length increases the search space exponentially. Aim for at least 16 characters where the account allows it.

The math behind that claim: a password's entropy (in bits) is length × log₂(character set size) — each additional character multiplies the number of possible passwords, rather than just adding to it. A 16-character password using uppercase, lowercase, and numbers (62 possible characters) has about 95 bits of entropy. An 8-character password using all four character types including symbols (88 possible characters) has only about 52 bits — length wins decisively even though the shorter password draws from a larger character set, because doubling the length has a far bigger multiplying effect than adding more symbol choices.

Nothing generated here is stored, logged, or transmitted — the password exists only in your browser until you copy and use it. Once you close or refresh this tab, it's gone; save it in a password manager immediately if you need to keep it.

Frequently asked questions

Is this password actually secure?

Yes — it’s generated using your browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), the same quality of randomness used for security tokens, not a predictable pseudo-random source.

Is the generated password sent anywhere or logged?

No. It’s generated and displayed entirely in your browser and is never transmitted, stored, or logged anywhere — closing the tab discards it completely.

Should I prioritize length or including every symbol type?

Length matters more. A longer password from a smaller character set is generally stronger than a short one packed with every symbol — aim for at least 16 characters where the site allows it.

Why does the length slider go as low as 4?

That range exists specifically for generating a short numeric PIN (like a 4-digit PIN), not for real account passwords — a 4-character value of any kind is not secure as a password. For an actual password, stay at 16+ characters as recommended above.
