10% Discount Calculator

Calculate the final price after a 10% discount.

About this tool

This calculator works both directions for pricing math that comes up constantly in retail and small business: apply a discount percentage to a price, or apply a markup percentage on top of a cost.

Discount mode takes an original price and a discount percentage and shows the final price plus the amount saved — useful for sale pricing or negotiating a deal. Markup mode takes a cost price and a markup percentage and shows the selling price — useful for setting a retail price from a wholesale or production cost.

Note that markup and margin are not the same thing, even though they're both expressed as a percentage: a 50% markup on a ₹100 cost gives a ₹150 selling price, but that's a 33% margin (profit divided by selling price, not cost). If you need margin specifically, use the Pricing & Margin Calculator instead.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between discount and markup here?

Discount reduces a price by a percentage (starting price → lower price). Markup increases a cost by a percentage to set a selling price (cost → higher price). They’re opposite operations.

Is markup the same as profit margin?

No. Markup is calculated on cost; margin is calculated on selling price. The same rupee profit produces a higher markup percentage than margin percentage. Use the Pricing & Margin Calculator if you specifically need margin.

Can I chain a discount and then a markup?

Run the calculation twice — apply the discount first, then use that result as the base price for a markup calculation, or vice versa.
